Andy Blevins is the Operations Director and Acting Policy Director for the Minority Veterans of America, the nation’s largest nonprofit serving our most marginalized and underserved veteran populations—veterans of color, women, LGBTQ veterans, and (non)religious minorities. Prior to this position, he served as the CEO for OutServe-SLDN (now the Modern Military Association of America), as a federal contractor in the Interior Department, with the Obama White House, and at the Oregon Department of Justice.
A proud veteran and former Army spouse, Andy served in the United States Navy as an Information Assurance Officer for the Western Pacific and Indian Oceans, overseeing more than 256 customer commands. He is currently pursuing a PhD in political science through George Mason University, and received his JD and MBA through Willamette University. He was recently named a Gene Roddenberry Fellow and selected for the National Truman Security Project’s Defense Council.
In his spare time, Andy enjoys giving back to the community as much as he can. Previous positions held have included a City Commissioner and the Vice-Chair for Human Rights and Relations in Oregon’s capitol city and a delegate for the Oregon State Bar’s military and veterans law section. Andy and his partner live in the Washington, D.C. area with their pup, “Sir Reginald, the Earl of Puppydom.”
