Jennifer Henius is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, military spouse and nationally recognized advocate for Veterans and caregivers. Ms. Henius is a demonstrated servant leader, a social impact entrepreneur and founder of the Caregiver Wellness Collective Inc., a nonprofit she established during the pandemic to provide holistic wellness education, training, and services to caregivers. She’s also a trauma-informed yoga teacher and is the creator of Yoga4Caregivers.
Ms. Henius is a strategic and visionary healthcare executive with a proven track record in developing innovative solutions to improve the Veteran, caregiver, and VA staff experience at the US Department of Veterans Affairs. Ms. Henius is an alumnus of VA’s Graduate Healthcare Administration Training Program and has nearly 20 years serving in various roles from providing direct clinical practice to hospital C-Suite operations, to developing national policy and leading enterprise-wide innovation efforts at VA Central Office.
Most notably, Ms. Henius served as the Senior Health Systems Specialist for VA’s pioneering Caregiver Support Program with annual outlays of more than $800 million. Ms. Henius served a key leadership role in the implementation of Title 1 of the Caregivers and Veterans Omnibus Health Services Act as well as developing critical requirements to improve and strengthen the program for all era Veterans under the MISSION Act of 2018. She also supported seminal research efforts to understand how best to support family caregivers to optimize caregiver and care recipient outcomes.
Ms. Henius served as the business lead to modernize VA’s IT infrastructure and electronic health record to better support caregivers, improve coordination of care and enhance decision support data capture for improved program oversight and evaluation. She collaborated with VA’s Office of Information Technology, the Veterans Experience Office, and US Digital Service among others to develop and deploy the Caregiver Records Management Application (CARMA). She is credited for being the strategic visionary for developing an automated application process for caregiver support services and improving identity management and traceability of caregivers across the VA enterprise and with external federal partners including the Department of Defense. Ms. Henius also served a key role in establishing the Caregiver Health Benefits Plan for VA’s Cerner implementation.
Ms. Henius is a sought-after consultant and is founder of the Ananda Impact Group LLC focused on health & wellbeing social impact ventures.
Ms. Henius received her Master of Social Work degree, Magna Cum Laude from the University of South Florida and completed her clinical training at the Bay Pines VA Healthcare System.
